They’re just bolts right? No, not really. These bolts are specified exactly for this application. At JBB ATV we geek out on the details, here’s why these are the best spreader bolts to get the job done right…

• Class 10.9 bolts are stronger and have greater surface hardness than standard bolts. Why is this important? A common cause of sheave damage is from the end of the bolt getting damaged when pushing against the inner sheave. When you back the bolt out through the outer sheave, the damaged thread of the bolt can ruin the sheave threads or even cause it to crack or fracture. The stronger and harder steel of Class 10.9 bolts prevent this damage from occurring.
• These bolts have a 12mm head which is already a required belt change tool. Other brand bolts are 13mm, requiring an additional tool in your belt change kit.
• Flange head stabilizes the socket or wrench on the bolt making it much easier and faster to use. One less thing to fumble with during a trailside repair.
• Zinc coating provides superior corrosion protection compared to black oxide. This means when you pull them from the bottom of your tool kit after dozens of wet rides they’ll be good to go.
• These are the exact thread size and length specified by Kawasaki.

Installation tips: Always use two spreader bolts and fasten them evenly, switching back and forth turning each a couple turns at a time. Never use excessive force or over torque spreader bolts, they should turn with only minor resistance. If they suddenly get more difficult to turn stop, the sheave is likely at it’s spread limit.
